You’re stranded though, and at first glance you find that not everything’s quite as it should be. Close to touchdown your spacecraft loses control and crashes, leaving you as a lucky, lucky survivor. So here’s the deal: you’re a robot maintenance mechanic, and you've been sent to a fully automated agriculture planet that supplies food to the metropolitan planets with the task of looking after the worker robots. Welcome to another episode of Scrap Mechanic Workshop Hunters This isnt quite the typical workshop hunters episode because the workshop was down when we ne. Team up with friends or fight against robots and other players who want to steal your stuff. With these gathered objects you can build shelters (cozy!), impressive moving Vehicles (vroom!), and machines (aw yes!) that will help you survive all the treacherous adventures ahead of you. Scrap Mechanic is an all-new creative multiplayer sandbox game where you explore, scavenge and collect objects from all over a wide-open interactive world. Which I think is much more in-keeping with Scrap Mechanics intended gameplay, also would be a lot more satisfying than just having some sort of auto-refuel area in the Mechanic Station.Welcome to the machine-filled creative paradise of Scrap Mechanic, a multiplayer survival game with imagination and ingenuity at its core. For this reason it's probably a little more complicated to implement blueprint spawning than I think people realise on the surface.Īs for refueling vehicles, I think once we see Vac Pumps upgraded, perhaps with a new Vac Inlet part, people will just be able to build their own custom refueling contraptions. So any Fabrication Station we see, would need to have some sort of built-in chest system that allowed players to deposit resources. The other issue, is that most builds use more blocks/parts than a player could actually hold in their 40 inventory slots. Blueprint Spawning needs to be more time and resource costly than building something from scratch, otherwise as soon as players reach a mid-game point where they have more metal than they know what to do with, the game might as well be over. If people can just spawn in a 100+ hour creation that's built to perform any task with tremendous efficiency, as and when needed, it'll ruin a huge part of the game for a lot of people, even if they don't realise it. A huge part of the appeal is the building of contraptions slowly - upgrading and tweaking them slowly over the course of a campaign. However, I have two main thoughts about blueprint spawning, one I've talked about several times, and that is the negative impact that blueprint spawning will have on the game. (Or possibly we'll see some other POI specifically for it, like a Fabrication Station or something.)

I do think it's likely that Mech Stations will have some sort of blueprint spawning at some point. So maybe if we placed fuel tanks/electric equivalent(can't remember the name) in those yellow lines under the veranda it would automatically detect an engine attached to a seat nearby and transfer over the appropriate fuel for that engine.ĮDIT: Mechanic Stations. The blueprint interface already lists what materials a blueprint is made up of so I don't think it would be difficult to have that also detect if the player has all those materials in their inventory.Īs for refueling vehicles, it's really only bouncing around in our heads because they appear to have been previously used for that within the game's story. If you make any changes to them, they will automatically stay up to date for.

If we were able to repair them then I think they would be the perfect place to be able to import blueprints into survival without cheating. With the mod tool you can easily manage all your mods through the steam workshop. That's more than apparent by needing to power them back up and by their platforms being all bent out of shape and what-not.

I'm not sure what their plan is for the mechanic stations but I thought of this just now.
